The First Year Matters
"Growing Engaged Learners and Responsible Global Citizens"

Gainesville State College participated in the Foundations of Excellence (FoE) one-year self study (2007-2008) which determined several areas of focus for programs and initiatives for new students.  Recommended action items were organized into five main themes:

  • College Culture and Cohesiveness
  • Faculty Recruitment and Development
  • Student Learning
  • Student Development and Services
  • Civic and Academic Engagement

The foundational principles guiding the Gainesville State College First Year Experience are diversity, academic rigor, supportive environment, responsibility, and ethical conduct.
