Learning Support
Learning Support courses include ENGL 0099, READ 0099, MATH 0097, and MATH 0099. There are also ESL (English as a Second Language) equivalents for the English and Reading courses. ESL and LS tracks are parallel; students can fulfill LS requirements with ESL courses. (ESL courses are only offered through the Gainesville Campus)
Attempts:
GSC allows two attempts to pass READ 0099, two attempts to pass ENGL 0099, and three total attempts to pass all math requirements (MATH 0097 & MATH 0099). Note: GSC allows only two attempts to pass MATH 0097.
Important items to remember when advising students with LS requirements:
- Students may enroll concurrently in LS and college-level courses as long as ALL prerequisites for the college-level courses are met. Students must enroll in all Learning Support courses prior to enrolling in regular college courses – Board of Regents' (BOR) Policy
- Students may not choose to delay taking a LS class until a later time – BOR Policy
- Students may not drop/withdraw from a LS course and remain in regular college courses – BOR Policy; however, at GSC, a student who remains in at least one LS course may also remain in GSCE 1101 – GSC Policy.
