Promotion and Tenure Timeline 2007-2008
The following dates have been established for the promotion and
tenure process for the 2007-2008 academic year.
February-March - CTLL notifies Division heads of
eligible faculty; Division heads verify eligibility.
April 14 - Divisional Peer Advisory Committees are in
place
August 25 - Candidates' portfolios due
September 1 – Division heads send names of the
College-Wide Promotion/Tenure/Post-Tenure Review Committee
Representatives to the Dean’s Office.
September 29 – PACs send observations to
division/department heads
October 31 - Division heads send names/folders
of those recommended to the Dean's Office for the College-Wide
Committee's consideration
**December 3 - Committee reports recommendations to
the Dean's Office.
January 12 - Dean sends recommendations to the
President.
January 30 - President notifies those being
considered of the status of the Recommendations
February ? -
President submits recommendations to the Chancellor's Office.
(To be
determined when Chancellor's Office sets date, probably around February
9, 2007.)
- Dean notifies those being considered for Promotion/Tenure of the
status of the recommendations.
**The timeline for review of Post-Tenure folders by the
College-Wide Promotion/Tenure/Post-Tenure Review Committee may be
extended beyond the dates posted above.
Promotions and Tenure General Information

Guidance in preparing review packages: Refer to the
appropriate sections of the GSC Faculty Handbook. The
Faculty Handbook guidelines for all review packages were rewritten in a format that is clear and easy to follow. If you should have
questions, please contact your division chair, PAC committee chair, or Center
for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership.

Workshops: CTLL provides workshops
on preparation of the review packages. Look for announcements in Tower
Talk and the campus Bulletin Board Spring semester for the workshop
dates/times.

Notebooks and dividers for review packages: Provided
by CTLL.

Due Dates: Announced in Tower Talk. Our
campus due dates are based on Board of Regents due dates announced during Spring
semester. Look for a notice in Tower Talk mid-semester.

Reminder for Instructors considered for promotion to
Assistant Professor: The request for up to three years of probationary
credit toward tenure should be made in writing at the same time as the request
for promotion to Assistant Professor.

New requirement!! The Board of
Regents Office requires that some materials from each campus be submitted to
them as a Word document. So, in addition to the review package that you
prepare, please provide the following item (s) on disk (which can be tucked in
the inside front pocket of the notebook):
