Staff Excellence Program

Gainesville State College values all of our employees.  We are committed to providing an environment that supports all employees to broaden and appreciate their full potential, harmonious with the GSC mission, goals, and values.  We strive to provide a setting that will contribute to performance, excellence and personal and organizational growth.

In accordance with this commitment, the GSC Staff Excellence Program (SEP) is designed to provide structured opportunities for professional and personal growth. The Staff Excellence Program is a voluntary program which encourages and rewards staff initiative in pursuing professional growth. In support of this goal, the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership (CTLL) offers workshops in the following areas: Teaching, Leadership, Technology and Office Operations, Facility Resources, Interpersonal Skills and Personal Growth. Workshops are open to all employees, even if they choose not to participate in the SEP. To complete the Staff Excellence Program, staff must submit an enrollment form signaling their intention to participate and must attend 12 hours of training.  Most workshops offered by CTLL last 50-75 minutes, equivalent to 1 workshop hour. A minimum of 9 hours out of 12 must be work related; up to 3 hours may be for Personal Growth.  Individuals may wish to consult with their supervisor in selecting appropriate workshops. The SEP must be completed within 3 years of the initial enrollment semester.

GSC Continuing Education courses may also be applied to the SEP program. Training taken through Continuing Education often lasts longer and thus credit will vary based on the number of hours of training completed.  The CE schedule of courses should be consulted for class length of specific courses.  (Please see the SEP guidelines for CE courses.)

Employees who complete professional certifications or other training workshops off-campus which award a certificate, may be granted credit for up to 50% of the required 12 hours upon submission of proper documentation to the CTLL.

To enroll in the SEP, please print enrollment form and mail via campus mail to Roxanne Burnett in the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership.  Also, please take time to keep a record of all your workshops on and off campus for SEP credit.  (SEP Tracking Sheet)
