Is
Gainesville State College a four-year school? |
 |
Effective October 11, 2005, Gainesville College was given the designation of
state college
by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and became
Gainesville State College. Along with the designation, GSC was given the
authority to offer a limited number of baccalaureate degrees. Effective Fall
2006, we will be offering following:
- Bachelor
of Science in Applied Environmental Spatial Analysis
- Bachelor
of Science in Early Childhood Care and Education (Age birth – 5 years old)
- Bachelor
of Applied Science with a major in Technology Management

What
are the admission requirements for a student who has received a College
Preparatory seal on his or her high school diploma? |
 |
Students
who graduate with a College Preparatory seal on their diploma must have minimum
academic GPA of 2.0 in order to gain admission to GSC. |

Does
Gainesville State College accept students who receive a Tech Prep seal on their
high school diploma? |

Yes.
Freshman students who graduate from high school with a tech prep diploma must
have an academic GPA of at least 2.2 in order to gain admission to GSC. |

Does Gainesville State College accept home schooled
students? |

An
applicant who completed high school graduation requirements under a home school
program or graduated from a non-accredited high school may be considered for
admission.
àAccording
to the policies of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, an
applicant whose SAT I combined (Critical Reading plus Mathematics) score is at
or above the average SAT I score of the previous year’s fall semester first-time
freshman admitted to the USG institution to which he or she is applying and who
has completed the equivalent of each of the College Prep Curriculum (CPC) areas
as documented by a portfolio of work and/or other evidence that substantiates
CPC completion qualifies for consideration for admission. Refer to our website

Does Gainesville State College accept GED students? |
 |
Yes.
Freshmen who did not graduate from an accredited high school, but who have
passed the General Education Development Exam (GED) are eligible for admission
to GSC. GED students must be at least 18 years old or the GED student’s class
must have graduated from high school. Refer to our website at

Are new freshmen required to take the SAT or ACT for
admission purposes? |
 |
No.
Effective fall 2005, new freshmen are no longer required to take the SAT or ACT
for admission purposes. However, scores may be submitted to the Admissions
Office in order to exempt placement testing. Please visit our website to obtain
further information. |

How do I know when I have been accepted? |
 |
Once
accepted, a letter will be mailed to you from the Admissions
Office.

When do I register? |
 |
All
freshman students are required to attend a SOAR (Student Orientation Advising
and Registration) session prior to the beginning of classes. New transfer
students are encourage to attend SOAR. For detailed information, please refer

When do I pay tuition and fees? |
 |
Students
who pre-register for classes must pay all tuition and fees by a specified date
prior to the beginning of the semester. All students who register on
registration day or during the late registration period must pay all tuition and
