About Laker Dayz

Laker Dayz is designed to connect first-year students with current student leaders to help facilitate their transition from high school to college. The program provides a venue for developing supportive and nurturing relationships with other first-year students as well as faculty, staff, and current students. Laker Dayz creates a foundation for a successful student experience at Gainesville State College.

Transportation and at least one meal are provided for participants.

All sessions are between July 30th-August 3rd, 2012.

· Laker Dayz: River Venture! Monday, July 30, 2012

Join us at Big Dogs on the River in Athens where students will participate in a fun filled morning kayaking down the beautiful Middle Oconee River while also getting to know faculty, staff, and fellow students. This session is for students who are enrolled in learning support classes. After lunch there will be a learning support information session.

· Laker Dayz: Discover Athens! Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Are you ready to discover what Athens has to offer? Students will spend the morning completing a scavenger hunt through Downtown Athens, eating lunch at a popular Athens restaurant, and closing the day with an exciting trapeze dance workshop at Canopy Studio.

· Laker Dayz: Stone Mountain Madness! Thursday-Friday, August 2-3, 2012

Travel to Stone Mountain and spend the day enjoying attractions such as Summit Skyride, Sky Hike, scenic railroad, mini-golf, and much more. After watching the Lasershow Spectacular in the evening, students will then spend the night at the Stone Mountain campgrounds.
