| Considering a career in
fitness?
Gainesville State College is pleased to
announce an exciting new academic
certificate program in Personal Training,
beginning in the Fall Semester of 2000. The
fitness industry continues to grow, and by
the year 2005 the U.S. Department of Labor
predicts a 14 to 24 percent increase in the
number of individuals employed as fitness
professionals. As a result of this growth,
there is a viable market for more and more
personal trainers. Our programs will
provide participants the opportunity to
learn principles of leadership, exercise
science, fitness assessment, exercise
prescription, motivational techniques,
behavior change and enhanced communication
skills through classroom experience as well
as extensive hands-on-training.
How much can I earn?
Personal trainers are hired as employees or
independent contractors. Wages vary
depending on experience, certifications, and
facility standards. Approximate wages in
the Gainesville/Atlanta area are $8-70 per
hour.
