Gainesville State College Women’s Organization (GSCWO)

GSCWO held it's first organizational meeting on October 9, 1967.  Over 40 years later GSCWO continues as a very active, supportive organization at Gainesville State College. Membership is open to GSC employees and their spouses and retirees.

Mission Statement

The mission of the organization is to foster social interest among its members and to support the functions of Gainesville State College as an educational and cultural influence in the community.

 

To facilitate the organization's mission, GSCWO engages in numerous activities including:

  • The Diane Carpenter Memorial Scholarship and two textbook scholarships per semester
  • Fundraisers for charitable causes such as the Gateway Domestic Violence Center and Project Safe
  • Monthly meetings featuring topics about women's issues
  • Sponsorship of special GSC Campus enhancement projects - picnic tables, benches, a clock, a flower arrangement and a Cherry Weeping Willow Tree
  • Annual Christmas Luncheon and Auction to support community projects
