LakerAlert provides instant alerts and updates regarding emergencies, severe weather and school closings.  Through LakerAlert, students, parents, faculty and staff can receive time-sensitive alerts and updates via

  • cell phones, PDAs
  • e-mail 

LakerAlert can notify the entire College community within minutes, but it only works if you register your information in the system.

The LakerAlert database is completely separate from your GSC account. Once your registration is confirmed, make a note of your LakerAlert password

Voluntary text messaging

Receiving LakerAlert text messages is voluntary. You must provide your contact information to LakerAlert in order to receive these critical messages. We strongly recommend that you opt-in,  Depending on your personal cell phone plan, there may be a nominal fee from your carrier to receive text messages, but there is no charge from the college to use the service. You may choose to opt-in or opt-out of the service at any time. Students, faculty and staff can register up to two phone numbers and two additional e-mail addresses.  Those who receive LakerAlert text messages (SMS) are responsible for any messaging charges from his or her wireless service provider.

LakerAlert E-mails

If you would like emergency information to go to your e-mail account(s), you must register that information with LakerAlert.  You may choose to opt-in or opt-out of the e-mail component of this service at any time.  

Parents

If you would like to receive GSC LakerAlert messages, have your student include your contact number as part of his or her two cell phone numbers and two e-mail addresses.  Parents cannot register themselves; their students must do so.

No Advertisements

Only emergency notices will be distributed using this system. No advertisements or non-emergency alerts will be issued using LakerAlert. Contact information provided to LakerAlert will not be shared with or sold to third parties.

Reminders to Update Information

Once you have registered, your contact information will stay in the LakerAlert system for one academic year. 

Students, Faculty and Staff will be requested to opt-in or opt-out of LakerAlert, as well as update their information at the beginning of each Fall Semester.
