Our
mission at John Harrison Hosch library is to provide effective
access to information resources and the services necessary to
support the College's educational and community objectives.
With its highly competent, helpful staff and adequate core
collection, the Library exists to assist students, faculty and
members of the community in gathering, interpreting and using
information.
In
addition to over 70,000 printed items, the library has study
carrels, group study rooms, a collection of items placed on
reserve by faculty, a wide assortment of magazines and
newspapers, and the second largest computer lab on campus.
We provide access to
GIL, the Library’s catalog; GIL-Express, the universal catalog
for libraries in the University
System of Georgia; e-reserves; over 200 programs on the campus
network; the Internet; scanners; color and black/white printers;
and GALILEO, the highly acclaimed collection of databases
provided by the University System of Georgia.
We take
great pride in providing the Gainesville State College community
with first-rate information-gathering assistance, in maintaining
a solid collection of books and materials, and in
providing access to the latest technology. You are encouraged
to take full advantage of one of Gainesville State College's
best resources.
